Blackhead Beach, Local. Wednesday 13 December, 2017.
There were 26 out, a big group for our last trip of the year. We walked from Blackhead Beach past Aramoana, and onto Pouerere Beach, where we were picked up by Colin and Peter who had kindly volunteered to drive the vans round. It was a lovely day; the tide was out, so it was very easy walking. Then we all piled into the vans and set off back down the road to the Patangata Tavern, where we had booked in for lunch. Our hosts, Rhonda and Aaron Bartlett, made us most welcome and served up delicious meals in double-quick time.
We spent a leisurely couple of hours, some partaking in the beverages more than others, then back into the vans for a scenic trip down the Tukituki River to Pakipaki, then back to Taradale.
Trampers: Twenty six who will remain nameless.
