Margaret, Donna, Gaye, Ted, Tony, Juliet and I travelled to the west end of Manawatu Gorge to walk the gorge track. Juliet had an appointment in Palmerston North so walked part of the track from the Woodville end to meet us after her appointment.
It was a lovely day with some wind that didn’t detract from the walk, as we were in native bush. Ted and Tony walked from the Woodville end. Ted turned back part-way and Tony met us at a barbecue table near the windmills.
The track is very well maintained and the native bush beautiful. We saw lots of piwakawaka, a well-fed kereru and heard a number of tui. The track goes well above the old road so views are great. I was surprised at how lovely the native bush is.
Trampers: Ted Angove, Juliet Gillick, Margaret Palmer, Donna Weston, Gaye Ebbett, Tony Pluymers and reporter Kate Fuller
