Trapping and tramping go well together

The trip started in fine weather and ended in snowflakes. Sixteen trampers made it to this historic hut.

The tramp was an exercise in checking all the traps along the way. Rosemary remembered the lesson on how to reset the DoC 200 trap. MM47 was sprung with a big possum caught. She released it, throwing it into the bush, and then reset the trap.

Bruce kindly reported the catch to Julia who then updated the trapline data on TrapNZ. The attached diagrams show the MM trapline (Makahu to Middle Hill) and their GPS positioning.
