The Day and Weekend Tramps
September 26/27, these have been cancelled due to the mountain weather forecast for continual rain. Suggest you go see the movie Everest on at the Reading Cinema Napier. Have a great weekend.

Anniversary Dinner
The dinner will be held on 8 October at the Wild Olive Restaurant, Blue Water Hotel (first floor), starting at 6:30pm. Cost $40 per person for a hot/cold buffet. Bar is available.

Anniversary Tramp
Our anniversary tramp to Kaweka J is on Saturday 10 October. If you are unable to attend the anniversary dinner, and would like to get your name onto the transport list, please contact either Alison Greer greer.fans@xtra.co.nz or Julia Mackie julia@napiertrampingclub.org.nz

DoC Permit
We entered the ballot for Big Hill Station and were awarded the week from 1st to 7th January 2016. Please let us know if you wish to go on a tramp in this area. We are unable to swap this date as it is not permissible (DoC Palmerston North and Big Hill Station regulations).

Heretaunga Tramping Club
We have confirmed with HTC that we would like to challenge them to some games of Ten-Pin Bowling. This has been booked at Superstrike, 608 Omahu Road, Hastings. Date: Friday, 13 November at 6:30pm.

A combined tramp with HTC has been discussed for Sunday, 31 January, 2016. The tramp destination has yet to be decided, but Te Atuparapara has been suggested by NTC.

Auckland Tramping Club
They are visiting Hawke’s Bay between 9-15 November. They will be staying at Westshore and have suggested that we join them for some day tramps. They will be invited to join us on the Wednesday 11 November tramp into Central Whirinaki Hut and possibly the ten-pin bowling event on 13 November. John Dobbs is coordinating this visit.

Trip Planning Meetings
Thursday 29 October for the Saturday and weekend tramps.
Tuesday 3 November for Wednesday tramps.
Both of these are at Alison Greer’s home at 7:30pm.

Christmas Bbq
Omatua Girl Guide Centre has been booked for Sunday 6 December. More details to follow.

About us

We are a group of like-minded people who love the great outdoors. We tramp mostly in the Hawke’s Bay province, in remote areas such as the Kaweka and Ruahine Ranges; but we also travel longer distances to new places, for longer walks.

The Napier Tramping Club was established in 1974 and has about 70 members. We belong to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ Inc (FMC) and run Saturday, full-weekend and Wednesday tramps, every fortnight.

Interested in joining us?

Enjoy the great outdoors, keep fit and get to know others with similar interests.
