Shelter from the blast in the Traverse Hut, aka the ‘A-Frame’

May 22, 2019 by Lynette Morgan 1 Comment

Tamaki River – ‘A-Frame’ Shelter – Stanfield Hut, Ruahine FP, Wednesday 22 May 2019 The usual 7.15 meet-up at Park Island for a mid-week tramp in the Ruahine Range was crisp, to say the very least, so having two full vanloads with a total of 24 trampers on board shows just how keen we really… [Read More]

A lake stroll, then lunch at Snapper Park café

December 12, 2018 by Lynette Morgan Leave a Comment

Tutira Walkway, 12 December 2018    The day started out murky and damp with low cloud, and it wasn’t going to improve until much later. That indicated great weather for a lake stroll (views not guaranteed).  We left Park Island at 07.30, picking up Denise Bavidge on the way, and arriving at the Lake Tutira camp… [Read More]

June 2, 2018 by Lynette Morgan Leave a Comment

Sunrise Hut – Saturday 2 June 2018 Ruahine FP, Map BK36 Two cars with eight trampers on board left Park Island on a fine but cold and brisk morning. About us

We are a group of like-minded people who love the great outdoors. We tramp mostly in the Hawke’s Bay province, in remote areas such as the Kaweka and Ruahine Ranges; but we also travel longer distances to new places, for longer walks.

The Napier Tramping Club was established in 1974 and has about 70 members. We belong to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ Inc (FMC) and run Saturday, full-weekend and Wednesday tramps, every fortnight.

Interested in joining us?

Enjoy the great outdoors, keep fit and get to know others with similar interests.
