Dodging the downpours was the icing on our cake

June 21, 2015 by Julia Mackie 2 Comments

Solstice tramp to Kiwi Saddle, Kaweka FP, Saturday/Sunday June 20/21 Map: BJ37 At the club meeting on Thursday night (before the Solstice tramp), it was suggested that as there were only four of us going on the weekend tramp, and all capable, we tramp to Kiwi Mouth Hut. The reasoning was that we would have… [Read More]

Kiwi Mouth Hut, Kaweka FP, Sat/Sun July 26/27. Map:BJ37 It promised to be a great winter weekend tramp, with lots of snow on the Kaweka Ranges. Alison and I decided that we needed to get outdoors. A day party of nine was heading up Kuripapango, and we joined them, and then left them to tramp… [Read More]

Paul, taking time out to read the newspaper?

Kiwi Saddle Hut day trip Saturday, May 21 2011. Map BJ37 A full van left for the Lakes car park and the trip up the Taihape Road was uneventful, now that it is tar-sealed for most of the way. We made the steady climb up to the radio mast on Kuripaponga, with good views all… [Read More]

About us

We are a group of like-minded people who love the great outdoors. We tramp mostly in the Hawke’s Bay province, in remote areas such as the Kaweka and Ruahine Ranges; but we also travel longer distances to new places, for longer walks.

The Napier Tramping Club was established in 1974 and has about 70 members. We belong to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ Inc (FMC) and run Saturday, full-weekend and Wednesday tramps, every fortnight.

Interested in joining us?

Enjoy the great outdoors, keep fit and get to know others with similar interests.
