frontWe are a group of like-minded people who love the great outdoors. We tramp mostly in the Hawke’s Bay province, in remote areas such as the Kaweka and Ruahine Ranges; but we also travel longer distances to new places, for longer walks. Sometimes, three- or four-day trips are arranged.

The Napier Tramping Club was established in 1974 and has about 70 members. We belong to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ Inc (FMC). We have Saturday, full-weekend and Wednesday tramps, every fortnight. Club meetings are held on the Thursday evening before the weekend tramps, at 7.30 pm at Port Ahuriri School Hall, Napier.

Trip arrangements are made at these meetings, previous trips are discussed and guest speakers regularly turn up to talk the walk about their tramping experiences.
Trip transport is usually by club members’ private vehicles, four people per vehicle and with each person paying the driver for fuel and vehicle running costs. So, if you're in sunny Hawke's Bay, join us to enjoy some exercise, some great company - and some of the best views on Earth!
