We are a group of like-minded people who love the great outdoors. We tramp mostly in the Hawke’s Bay province, in remote areas such as the Kaweka and Ruahine Ranges; but we also travel longer distances to new places, for longer walks. Sometimes, three-or four-day trips are arranged.
The Napier Tramping Club was established in 1974 and has about 70 members. We belong to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ Inc (FMC) and run Saturday, full-weekend and Wednesday tramps, every fortnight. Club meetings are held on the Thursday evening before the weekend tramps, at 7.30pm in the HB Cricket Assn Rooms, Jull St entrance, Nelson Park, Napier.
Trip arrangements are made at these meetings, previous trips are discussed and guest speakers talk the walk about their tramping experiences. Transport is by hired van (or club members’ private vehicles, with each tramper paying the driver for running costs).
If you are interested in joining us for a tramp, call New Members’ contact Kelvin Shaw on 06 836 7094 or have a look at our new membership page for details of subscriptions and benefits.
