The access at the Makororo has largely been resolved through Smedley taking over the farm at the road end. Currently you can drive down to the old mill site at the end of Wakarara Rd if you get permission from Smedley. The phone number is 06-8566518 and the contact person is Kim. If you just want to walk down then you can park your car on the left as you go through the gate and walk down the road to the river without permission. DoC are working alongside Smedley at Parks Peak Station to establish a permanent solution. This was discussed at the last RUG meeting (minutes pending).
