Wilding pines update: 6000 down so far
Wilding pine task force organiser Graham Leech reports a couple of very successful days up at The Lakes. Monday 18 July saw seven students (HBHS, Woodford, HNHS and Lindisfarne) doing work for their Duke of Edinburgh Award – 36hrs yielded 1050 trees. Tuesday 19 July saw three adult volunteers (thanks Julia, Alison and Gordon from Napier Tramping Club) joined briefly by two of the students – 18hrs yielded 900 trees.
Our running aggregate total is now 6360 trees from 193hrs volunteer time.
The outing planned for Saturday 27 August has been postponed, new date to be advised.
