Christmas wishes to all our readers and club members. Stay safe during this Christmas and New Year holiday season, and looking forward to our 2015 tramping calendar which is posted on the website.

Santa-Claus-Drinking-Champagne

Christmas Bbq: Sunday December 14th. This year the Bbq was be held at Omatua Girl Guide Grounds in Rissington. This is on Puketitiri Road, on the right, just before the bridge over the Mangone River. We were fortunate to have this venue, as the weather was atrocious for any outdoor activity. We lit the fire in the dinning hall, and had a great time indoors, whilst Kelvin bbq’d the burgers and sausages etc, under cover on the verandah. A great place for indoor and outdoor functions. Many thanks to the Girl Guide Association.

The club have funded the park bench on the Tironui Drive to Sugarloaf walk. This is through Napier Council reserve land, and the seat has been sited at a viewpoint to the southern Ruahine Ranges and also to the Cape Kidnappers coastline. The dedication that was planned on Monday December 1st, did not eventuate due to heavy rain. This will be rescheduled in early 2015.

About us

We are a group of like-minded people who love the great outdoors. We tramp mostly in the Hawke’s Bay province, in remote areas such as the Kaweka and Ruahine Ranges; but we also travel longer distances to new places, for longer walks.

The Napier Tramping Club was established in 1974 and has about 70 members. We belong to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ Inc (FMC) and run Saturday, full-weekend and Wednesday tramps, every fortnight.
